BAA Heathrow is launching a new, free text message service this month which will provide passengers with flight updates straight to their mobile phones
To register, passengers simply need to visit Heathrow Airport website (www.heathrowairport.com/flyingmessenger) up to 2 hours before their flight and enter their flight details, mobile number and email address. They will then receive texts keeping them informed on the status of their flight, including their estimated departure time and an alert when their flight is ready to board. As an added benefit, passengers will also receive exclusive airport shopping, eating and currency offers by text message.
Brands including American Express, Hughes and Hughes, Est, Est, Est, Garfunkels, Tie Rack and Geronimo Inns will be generating special offers for Flying Messenger subscribers.
Says Duncan Garrood, BAA Commercial Director: "This easy to use, free text service will enable passengers to relax and enjoy the departure lounge without the need to intermittently check the airport information screens. Instead they can relax and enjoy their time with us; a coffee, a glass of champagne or just a moment to themselves before they fly".
Following a successful launch Heathrow Airport, Flying Messenger will be rolled out across BAA's six other UK airports early next year.
