Click Travel has been awarded the contract to offer travel management services to local authorities and other public sector bodies in the UK.
The Birmingham-based TMC has been awarded supplier status for all three categories (known as lots) as part of the Government Procurement Service (GPS)’s new Wider Public Sector Travel Management Services framework.
Click is the only TMC selected for Lot One (online hotel and rail services) and Lot Two (online and offline air, hotel and rail services). While Click Travel and Capita Travel and Events have both been chosen for Lot Three (fully managed travel services).
The framework, which runs for four years to November 2017, has an estimated total value of between £300 million and £800 million according to GPS documents. It is designed to simplify and streamline how public sector organisations outside central government buy their business travel.
Click’s managing director Simon McLean said: “Naturally we are delighted to have been successful on all three lots.
“We’re looking forward to helping many more public sector organisations drive down the cost and complexity of their travel management through the framework, saving taxpayers money.”
Click took part in a tender process which included written submissions as well as giving live demonstrations of their booking tools and systems.
Sally Collier, managing director of the Government Procurement Service, said: “The framework will provide customers with a cost-effective way to procure their domestic and international business travel using online booking tools.
“The framework can also be accessed on a managed service basis provided by the suppliers, so customers can focus on more specialist requirements.”

- Lot One provides an online-only booking tool for UK and international rail and accommodation. It is designed to provide a solution which replicates the services currently available through commercial websites.
