The Air France KLM group has launched Bigblank, a ‘start-up studio’ designed to explore travel trends and create companies “with innovative projects and high growth potential”.
The group says the studio was set up to help it anticipate the needs of its customers and be a “pioneer in all new market segments”.
Bigblank’s roadmap will be to launch projects based on future travel trends that will provide “a new vision of the travel industry”. The projects will be carried out by entrepreneurs who will draw on the experience of the Air France KLM group and its airlines.
Based in Paris, the company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the group, with B777 pilot Hubert Riondel appointed as its managing director.
Bigblank is reminiscent of similar start-up studios such as IAG's Hangar 51 and the Lufthansa Innovation Hub.
