New Zealand-based booking tool provider Serko has appointed former Booking.com executive Matthew Gerrie as chief operating officer.
Gerrie will also assume the responsibilities of chief product officer and will work to “translate Serko’s strategic vision into product initiatives and business performance,” the company said in a blog post on Wednesday (29 January).
He will be tasked with scaling the company’s global operations, driving growth and “optimising” performance across international markets.
Gerrie joins the company from Booking Holdings, where he served as director of strategy, analytics in global strategy and business development. Prior to that, he held leadership roles at its flagship brand Booking.com, including as VP of customer insights and director of marketing science and communication.
Commenting on the appointment, Serko co-founder and CEO Darrin Grafton said Gerrie’s “expertise in strategy, data-driven insights and global operating models make him the ideal leader to help us scale effectively and drive product innovation across our markets”.
Serko is also featured in BTN Europe’s The 2025 Hotlist following its US$12 million acquisition of GetThere from Sabre. Shortly after closing the deal – on 7 January 2025 – the company also announced the appointment of business travel luminary Johnny Thorsen in the newly created role of vice president of strategic business development.
