Travel buyers from the “not for profit” sector are becoming more confident about the level of bookings they will make during 2013.
A survey of clients, carried out by specialist TMC Key Travel, found that 27.4 per cent expected higher travel bookings this year compared to 2012. A further 64.8 per cent said bookings were like to stay the same with only 7.8 per cent anticipating a drop.
Key Travel chief executive Steve Summers said: “Considering the current climate, we are very pleased with these results.”
The survey, which had 1,170 respondents, also found that more companies in the charity, government and educational sectors were moving towards centralised and mandatory booking procedures.
The awareness of travel policies within organisations has improved from last year’s survey with only 19.8 per cent saying they did not know if their employer had a travel policy or not – an improvement of three percentage points on 2012.
More than nine out of ten (91 per cent) respondents whose organisations had a travel policy reported that they knew what this policy entailed, with 87.5 per cent adding that they always followed the requirements.
