Technology firm Sabre has launched virtual payments for a wider range of travel services.
Virtual payments have traditionally been used to pay for hotels but Sabre has extended this to airline tickets, ancillary products, rail trips, as well as service and credit card fees through Sabre Virtual Payments.
Clinton Anderson, senior vice president of traveller experience for Sabre Travel Network, said: “We have invested significantly in a virtual payments solution that can be integrated in the Sabre Red Workspace.
“We’re now focused on further integrating this growing technology with Get There, our online booking solution, and Trip Case, the travelers’ itinerary management app.
Neil Fyfe, Sabre’s vice president for virtual payments, added that security is enhanced through virtual cards as they can have specific credit limits, merchant categories and other controls.
“Our expansion into rail applies to Amtrak reservations, but there are plans to extend Sabre Virtual Payments for European rail later this year.
“These ongoing expansions support our global initiative to provide virtual cards for any travel supplier, extending our customers protection from fraud.”
