Egencia has launch a new app for business travellers called Trip Navigator which will give users ‘real time’ updates to their itinerary while on the move.
The TMC, which is part of online travel group Expedia, said the app was designed to make it easier for corporate travellers to deal with last-minute itinerary changes such as cancelled or delayed flights, booking a hotel if necessary, or providing details of how a major event is affecting travel plans.
Rob Greyber, president of Egencia, said: “Consumer brands have set a high bar with leisure travel apps that travel management companies, like Egencia, need to meet in order to drive sustained use of corporate travel apps.
“Egencia Trip Navigator brings the best consumer travel experience to the enterprise user, serving as a must-have mobile travel assistant with integrated access to Egencia customer service when help is needed.”
Egencia said that the new app had been developed following feedback from clients and uses technology from specialist firm Mobiata, which has been purchased by Expedia.
The worldwide launch has seen Trip Navigator being made available to clients through Apple’s iOS platform for iPhones and iPads. Egencia plans to introduce an app for Android devices early next year.
A “callback” option is also available to “select travellers in the US” through the Trip Navigator app whereby an Egencia consultant will contact the travellers to offer further assistance with trip changes.
