A trends report from Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT) suggests 2016 will be “the year of the traveller”, as companies embrace new technology and ways of working to improve traveller satisfaction.
The CWT website combines a survey from over 1,000 travel managers worldwide, white papers, client case studies and additional research to produce the travel trends.
The research highlights many findings, among them the discovery that safety and security will be high on the agenda with over 80 per cent of those surveyed expecting high impact from them on their programmes.
Additionally, 63 per cent of managers expect mobile and wearable technology to have a large impact along with 53 per cent expecting and looking for more data on traveller behaviour and programme performance.
Additional trends found to be key to traveller satisfaction include the sharing economy, virtual payment and big data.
David Moran, executive vice president of CWT commented: “Travel managers have told us loud and clear that the traveller experience will play a major role in the 2016 travel programme.
“Whether it’s proactive destination information, help in an emergency, multichannel access or personalised services – everything is designed to provide travellers with a seamless experience at every stage of a trip,” he added.
