Delegates travelling to the Institute of Travel Management’s conference in the UK later this month are set to have their carbon emissions offset.
The annual conference is set to take place in Birmingham on 27–28 April with the ITM’s first sustainability partner ATPI committed to making the event as environmentally friendly as possible through its ATPI Halo division.
This initiative will include offering accredited carbon-offsetting in the form of nature-based conservation and alternative energy investments to offset emissions created by travel to and from the event.
ATPI will also provide plantable event passes featuring a seedling packet and lanyards made from recycled plastic, as well as ensuring there are no single-use plastics during the conference.
Pippa Ganderton, product director at ATPI Halo, said: “As we continue to see the return to travel for business purposes, we’re taking the opportunity of this ITM conference to highlight the importance of a robust approach to sustainability.
“It’s a good time to make a fresh start with a more environmentally considerate approach. We’re looking forward to talking to clients and potential clients about how they can return to travel in a more sustainable way.”
ATPI Halo was launched in September 2021 as the TMC’s sustainability division offering measurement, reduction and offsetting of carbon emissions.
