Virgin Atlantic is to offer high-speed Internet on its entire fleet after partnering with aero communications service provider Gogo.
Virgin is the first European airline to partner with Gogo and expects the provider to deliver “unprecedented bandwidth to the aircraft”.
It will be the first time high-speed Internet will become available on transatlantic flights from Europe, with in-flight wifi currently only available on domestic flights in North America.
Earlier this monthBBT spoke to Virgin CEO Craig Kreeger who confirmed the in-flight wifi is part of a £300 million investment on a series of product enhancements. This includes the building of a new Upper Class lounge at Los Angeles' LAX airport.
“Virgin Atlantic is on the cutting edge when it comes to delivering technology solutions to their passengers and we’re extremely excited to deliver the best connectivity solutions to keep their passengers connected anywhere they fly around the world,” said Gogo’s president and CEO Michael Small.
"Virgin Atlantic’s relationship with Delta Air Lines will also allow us to build a seamless experience for passengers who fly both airlines,” he added.
