New York-based low cost carrier Jetblue has signed an interline agreement with Virgin Atlantic.
The partnership means travellers can buy single tickets combining travel with the two airlines.
For example, Virgin Atlantic passengers could connect from London via New York onto one of Jetblue’s domestic routes, such as Baltimore, Chicago, San Diego or Tampa.
The airlines will interline on the following transatlantic routes, operated by Virgin: Boston-Heathrow; New York JFK-Heathrow; Orlando-Glasgow, Gatwick and Manchester; Washington Dulles-Heathrow.
Edmond Rose, director of commercial and revenue planning for Virgin Atlantic, said: “This partnership will offer Virgin Atlantic passengers a streamlined journey between our three UK airports and many cities across the US and Puerto Rico.
Scott Resnick, Jetblue’s director of airline partnerships, said the airline is pleased to begin interline service with “a transatlantic leader of Virgin Atlantic’s calibre”.
He said: “We look forward to welcoming their customers to the growing JetBlue network and to giving ours more options to the U.K.”
