Virgin Nigeria (VK) has moved its Gatwick operations to the North Terminal, enabling passengers, says the carrier, to connect to and from Europe and North America and transfer more easily in both directions.
The airline has been a Gatwick resident since November 2005 and flies daily non-stop services direct to Lagos. In late May it will swap its Airbus A330 operation to that of a Boeing 767 but retain the two-class cabin. Flight time for both aircraft is approximately the same, just under seven hours.
Virgin Atlantic (VS) also operates to and from Lagos, but from Heathrow. Timings are such that the Virgin partnership offers daylight services in each direction, from Lagos Virgin Nigeria in the morning and Virgin Atlantic past midnight overnight. The same arrangement holds in the opposite direction.
”This is another significant improvement in customer experience for passengers travelling with Virgin Nigeria,” said the carrier”s CEO, Conrad Clifford. ”Gatwick”s North Terminal will offer our passengers convenience and flexibility with connections to more than 200 destinations worldwide.
”The North Terminal at London Gatwick airport is spacious, airy and modern with excellent facilities, offering a seamless journey through the airport”.
Virgin Nigeria is the registered, fully private sector flag carrier of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, owned 51% by Nigerian institutional shareholders and 49% by Virgin Atlantic.
