Virgin Atlantic is to restore a second daily flight between Heathrow and Los Angeles.
The British carrier will resume flying twice-daily on the route from October 25, as joint venture partner Delta plans to end its own Heathrow-Los Angeles service on October 4, according to airline industry website, airlineroute.net.
Virgin’s second flight to LAX airport will depart Heathrow at 12.20 to arrive in California at 15.50, while the return service departs LAX at 20.50 to arrive in the UK at 15.25 the following day.
Delta is also planning to cancel its Heathrow-Newark services from October.
The US carrier owns 49 per cent of Virgin Atlantic and the two airlines operate a joint venture across the Atlantic.
Earlier this year, Delta agreed a deal with a pilots’ union promising to maintain its own transatlantic flights and not outsource them to Virgin.
