Switzerland's national carrier has announced it will acquire nine new Airbus aircraft by 2014.
Five long-haul A330-300s join the fleet, as well as four short-haul aircraft - two A321s and two A320s.
Swiss expects to take delivery of its first new aircraft in 2012.
According to the airline, the new planes are needed to expand its route network.
This expansion will create 600 new jobs within Swiss.
Gregor Koncilja, Swiss' UK and Ireland country manager, said the airline's growth strategy "adds to the commitment we have already shown in the UK".
Swiss announced earlier this month it would be adding a second A320 aircraft to the Heathrow-Geneva route from next March.
It currently uses an aircraft from sister airline Bmi to operate three of the six-daily flights.
Swiss' Heathrow-Geneva route was launched in January.
