Focused approach successful, says Albrecht
The Star Alliance has reported a 12.5% year-on-year rise in revenue from its Corporate Plus programme.
The programme, aimed at meeting the global travel needs of corporates, enjoyed an increase in flown revenue from €2.4bn to €2.7bn.
The airline alliance, which is the largest in the world with 21 full members, said it now had deals with 97 companies, an increase of 3% in the last 12 months.
Jaan Albrecht, Star's ceo, said: "The results for Star Alliance Corporate Plus prove that our strategy of targeted growth - concentrating on the right accounts rather than just focusing on growing the number of contracts - has paid off.
"With this solid corporate contract base we are well placed to quickly adapt to the changing travel needs of corporate customers, during a time when we all face a more challenging economic climate."
