Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) has launched a new route between Copenhagen and Istanbul airports.
The Nordic carrier is operating the daily service to Turkey’s largest airport using Airbus A320neo aircraft with a 180-seat capacity across its SAS Plus (premium economy) and SAS Go (economy) cabins.
Henrik Winell, SAS’s vice president of network at Scandinavian Airlines (SAS), said: “We are thrilled to strengthen the link between Scandinavia and Turkey while continuing to develop our global hub in Copenhagen.”
The route is the first time that SAS has flown to Istanbul Airport, which has just overtaken London Heathrow as Europe’s busiest airport.
Server Aydın, chief commercial officer at Istanbul Airport, added: “This partnership represents an important milestone in our sustainable growth strategy and will further enhance the economic and cultural connections between the Nordic countries and Turkey.
“Strengthening our ties with Northern Europe supports our vision for Istanbul as a dynamic global hub and a key meeting point for travellers from around the world.”
