Scandinavian carrier SAS has launched an all-business class service from Stavanger in Norway to Houston, Texas.
The airline expects to “significantly strengthen” the economic and cultural ties that already exist within the oil and gas industry in both regions.
The route will be operated by a business version of the Boeing 737-700 aircraft and will have a SAS long-haul business class concept on board with just 44 business seats, in-flight entertainment and full-service meals.
The aircraft is being wet-leased from Privatair (which also operates selected scheduled services on behalf of Lufthansa), and will carry SAS colours.
Flight SK951 departs Stavanger at 1600 (every day except Tuesday), arriving into Houston at 1940, with the return leg SK952 leaving the US city at 2135, landing back into the Norwegian city at 1420 the following day.
Inside the new all-business class service from SAS"The route we have established is a tailored product for a defined market with particular travel needs," says Eivind Roald, executive VP sales and marketing at SAS.
"The favourable timetable provides excellent connections throughout Scandinavia in both directions, while Houston is a hub for connections south and west with Star Alliance."
