SAS SCANDINAVIAN AIRLINES is revamping its European operation in terms of cabin service from the start of the winter season due to what it calls is a significant change in customer requirements. The airline will operate a three class concept leading in with economy, a simple product for the price sensitive: This, the airline says is a low price offer where no rebooking or refund is allowed and meals and refreshments will be available for purchase on board. Economy Flex is for the time-savers and is tailored to customers whose main concern is efficient travel, Economy Flex offers the time saving benefits of travelling in business class at a lower cost. It offers greater flexibility including free rebooking and refunds, priority check-in, fast lane security in Copenhagen and Stockholm, two carry on bags permitted, access to efficient booking tools such as advance seat reservation and a complimentary meal and beverages. Business class stays more or less as it is offering a high level of comfort and service. In addition to all the benefits of Economy Flex, passengers will be seated comfortably with the centre seat empty; there will be extra legroom, an excellent meal, and the convenience of lounge access. The airline has also announced six new routes from Copenhagen: to Aberdeen and Newcastle in the UK and Szczecin, Poland; Kleip”da, Lithuania; Lyon, France and Vester”s, Sweden. Two further routes are still under discussion. All the new services will start in October 2004 and will be operated by Bombardier CRJ 48-seater regional jets leased from partner Cimber Air of Denmark.
