Ryanair is to resume flights from Aberdeen after a gap of more than five years.
The Irish low-cost airline stopped flying from the Scottish airport in October 2011 after failing to reach a deal with Aberdeen’s former owner BAA.
Ryanair has announced that it will start flights from Aberdeen in February 2017 when it will launch twice-weekly routes to both Malaga and Alicante.
Aberdeen will be Ryanair’s fourth Scottish airport after Edinburgh, Glasgow and Prestwick.
Ryanair’s head of communications Robin Kiely said: “We look forward to working closely with the team at Aberdeen airport to deliver more routes, traffic and growth in the future.”
Aberdeen’s managing director Carol Benzie said: “We look forward to welcoming Ryanair back to Aberdeen."
