Ryanair’s head of corporate sales and groups Lesley Kane has confirmed she will step down from her position on September 12.
Kane was appointed to her current role in January and became a key player in implementing Ryanair’s strategy to target more business travellers.
She was project manager on Ryanair’s new business travel product, which should be launched next week. As well as launching initiatives such as flexible tickets, reserved seating and fast-track through selected airports.
Kane told BBT that the reason for leaving was due to family reasons and moving back to Scotland.
“It was an incredibly tough decision to make,” said Kane. “I’ve done a lot in my time in the role and helped the company push our new business travel model.
“We’ve spoken to a lot of corporates and shown them our business product and they’ve seen the savings that can be made through low cost carriers.”
Kane also said she has no plans for her next role “despite a number of enquiries already” and said she is going to do an MBA at Glasgow University next year.
“I’d ultimately love to come back into travel one day,” she added.
Ryanair this week announced the appointment of chief technology officer John Hurley.
