Air France is improving connectivity between France and Côte d’Ivoire in Western Africa through a new reciprocal codeshare agreement with Air Côte d’Ivoire.
Both airlines operate flights between Paris Charles de Gaulle and Abidjan airports — this deal will see the carriers placing their codes on each other’s services from 25 October.
“The partnership will give customers of both airlines a wider choice of departure times between France and Côte d’Ivoire by combining the two carriers’ flight frequencies,” said Air France in a statement.
Air France holds an 11 per cent shareholding in Air Côte d’Ivoire and has been a “strategic partner” of the Ivorian carrier since it was founded in 2012.
In a statement, the two airlines said that codesharing on the Paris-Abidjan route was the “first step” in a partnership that will be extended to other destinations served by Air France over the next nine months.
Anne Rigail, CEO of Air France, added: “By combining our offering on the Paris–Abidjan route, we are giving our French, Ivorian and international customers greater choice and flexibility, while helping to strengthen the economic and cultural ties between France and Côte d’Ivoire.”
