Ryanair is expanding its ‘Business Plus’ service to attract more business travellers, as it unveils the third part of its ‘Always Getting Better’ programme.
The budget airline launched the service around 18 months ago, offering benefits including flexible tickets, more check-in luggage, priority boarding and premium seats.
The expanded Plus service will include more flexible ticketing, more fast-track airports and auto-check in.
Ryanair has also overhauled its baggage policy by cutting the number of payment options from 108 to six. The no-frills airline currently charges different fees for each checked-in bag depending on whether it weighs up to 15kg or 20kg, whether it is the passenger’s first or second bag, and whether the flight is in high or low season.
CEO Michael O’Leary said a flat fee of "probably £30" will be introduced for bags. This would be an increase on the existing price of checking in a 15kg bag during the low season, which costs £20.
It currently costs £40 to book a 20kg case in during the high season.
It has introduced a ‘rate my flight’ option on its app, where you can score the flight and service and receive real-time customer feedback.
Ryanair has also unveiled a frequent flyer programme - "My Ryanair Club" - which will offer customers discounts and free flights depending on how often they use the airline.
The new scheme will offer customers one free return flight when they book 12 flights in a year and will make specific offers to customers depending on their travel habits.
Ryanair chief marketing officer Kenny Jacobs said the airline’s continued drive to improve customer experience has been reflected in its passenger numbers.
“While Year 1 and 2 were about fixing the areas customers didn’t like and improving the existing offering, Year 3 will be about digital acceleration and innovation, particularly through our Ryanair Labs digital developments,” said Jacobs.
