Qatar Airways will start flying to Benghazi, Libya’s second largest city, on November 1.
The news follows Libya’s official liberation at a ceremony in Benghazi on October 23.
Qatar will operate flights to the north eastern port city four times a week non-stop from Doha.
Akbar Al Baker, the carrier’s CEO, said Benghazi was an “underserved, primarily business destination”.
Qatar’s flights between Doha and Tripoli, a route the airline has operated since 2003, remain suspended with no relaunch date yet announced.
Flights to Benghazi will be operated using an Airbus A320 aircraft, with 12 First Class seats and 132 in economy.
Flight QR 556 will leave Doha at 0930, arriving into Benghazi at 1410 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
From Benghazi, flight QR557 will leave at 1510 and arrive into Doha at 2050, also on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
In November, Qatar will also start flying to Entebbe in Uganda and Chongqing in China.
