Qatar now flies to 90 destinations, after the launch of Doha-Barcelona.
It is the airline's second destination in Spain, after Madrid.
Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways' CEO, said: "The launch of flights to Barcelona - our 90th destination in our ever-growing network is truly a milestone for Qatar Airways.
"With 14 flights a week now operating to Spain, this reflects the high demand we have been experiencing in and out of the region, helped by increased economic ties between the Middle East and the Iberian Peninsula."
The city is the fifth new destination launched by Qatar Airways this year, after Bengaluru, Copenhagen, Ankara and Tokyo.
Flight QR067, operated using an A319 in a two-class configuration (business and economy), departs Doha on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 07.55am, arriving into Barcelona at 2.15pm. Flight QR065, on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday leaves Doha at 1.20am and arrives into Barcelona at 07.40am.
Flight QR068 departs Barcelona International airport Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 4pm, arriving into Doha at 11.25pm. Flight QR066 leaves Barcelona at 11.40am on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, and arrives into Doha International airport at 7.05pm.
From June 24, Qatar Airways will also start its first flights to South America. The airline will serve Sao Paulo in Brazil and Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, with daily scheduled flights direct from Doha.
