Qantas has unveiled a new logo alongside planned new business and economy seats for its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.
The Australian airline revealed a restyled kangaroo logo, as it prepares to take delivery of its first Dreamliners in late 2017.
Qantas Group CEO Alan Joyce said: “A fresh brand helps symbolise the new era Qantas is entering as we head towards our centenary. It’s an era of new destinations, new technology and a new standard of service.”
The airline’s Dreamliners will have capacity for 236 passengers across three cabins – business, premium economy and economy.
Qantas will reveal its first Dreamliner routes “in coming months” with the first flights due to go on sale before Christmas. The aircraft will then “gradually” take over services currently operated by its B747 fleet, as well as introducing new routes.
The new Business Suites are an upgrade on the seats recently installed on Qantas’ Airbus A330 fleet. They will be laid out in a 1-2-1 configuration on the Dreamliner.
Qantas said that economy seats will also give passengers more room including one extra inch of seat pitch compared with its Airbus A380s. These seats will also feature a personal device holder and USB ports, as well as a larger touchscreen high-definition personal TV screen.
“We’re planning to make the most of the 787’s amazing range, so we’ve designed the cabin to give Qantas passengers a better experience on long- haul flights,” said Joyce.
“Many of the cabin design elements reflect what our customers have told us. Personal storage rates really highly, so we’ve created extra space in economy for customers to store their personal devices and water bottles.”
