Airline Norwegian is to allow its Premium passengers flying from Oakland to Gatwick to use a new lounge at the Californian airport for free.
The low-cost carrier will give free access to the Escape Lounge at Oakland International airport, near San Francisco, before boarding their flight to Gatwick. The lounge is due to open this month.
The Escape Lounge, which will be operated by Manchester Airports Group’s US subsidiary, will offer free food and drinks, plus high-speed wifi access, to Norwegian’s Premium passengers.
The airline already offers free access to No 1 Lounges at Gatwick for Premium passengers.
Thomas Ramdahl, Norwegian’s chief commercial officer, said: “We’re upgrading our Premium passengers’ journey with complimentary access to the newest airport lounge in the Bay Area.
“Norwegian is defining premium low-cost travel with an enhanced experience without the price tag.”
British Airways is also due to start flying on the Gatwick-Oakland route from March 2017.
