Low cost airline Norwegian has returned to profit with pre-tax results for 2015 improving by £137 million.
In 2015, the airline reported pre-tax results of £70 million or 875 million NOK, an improvement from the previous year which saw Norwegian post a loss of around 1.168 million NOK.
The airline also saw a rise in passenger numbers of 7 per cent but said the “unpredictable” political decision to introduce passenger tax was creating “uncertain situations” in the market.
Norwegian CEO Bjorn Kos said: “We enter 2016 with favourable fuel costs and one of the youngest fleets in Europe, which presents a significant competitive advantage.
“We see a good demand for quality flights at affordable fares, but the unpredictable political decision to introduce passenger tax in Norway is creating an uncertain situation in this market.
“It is a paradox that the company with the lowest emissions seems to be punished the hardest.”
