News in brief from Air Berlin, Greys of London and WEA, Austrian Airlines
Air Berlin revenues up 12%
Germany's second largest airline Air Berlin has seen a 12% growth in seat revenues over August.
Load factors also rose from 82.9% in August last year to 84% in 2009, well above the previous eight month's average of 77.3%.
But Air Berlin said a targeted 5% cut in capacity for the month had resulted in 3.7% fewer passengers, falling to 2.74 million from 2.85 million this year.
Greys of London joins WEA chauffeur network
London-based chauffeur company Greys of London has joined World Executive Airways' (WEA) network of car partners.
Greys will provide transfer services for WEA, a franchised airline which operates five private jets under its LyddAir certificate.
Chelsea-based Greys' fleet of S-Class Mercedes is now available to WEA passengers flying in and out of Lydd airport in Ashford, London.
New Austrian board meets
Austrian Airlines' new supervisory board has met for the first time following its takeover by Lufthansa.
Stefan Lauer, who is responsible for Austrian on Lufthansa's Group Executive Board, was elected chair of the new board.
Lufthansa's ceo Wolfgang Mayrhuber was elected deputy chair under Mr Lauer.
Austrian's supervisory board has six other members representing Austrian's capital side and four to uphold its employees' interests.
The number of board members was agreed at Austrian's last shareholder general meeting.
A smaller advisory board has also been set up to advise the supervisory board on matters relating to Austrian's location.
SilverDoor reports record figures
Serviced apartment company SilverDoor reported a 41% year on year growth in business.
It said its figures for August were a company record.
The company, based in London and formerly known as Hotdigs, has apartments 170 locations worldwide, among them London, Paris, New York, Abu Dhabi and Toyko.
It has also recently opened properties in Dubai.
