A new Hampton by Hilton hotel is set to open in the North Terminal at Gatwick Airport in time for the London Olympics.
Currently an office block, Longbridge House will be converted into a 192-room hotel, although the project is still subject to planning permission.
The building is connected to Gatwick's North terminal by a covered walkway.
Redevelopment work will start next year on the new hotel, which will be run by Hilton under its mid-sector Hampton brand.
To date, there are less than 10 hotels under the brand in the UK, with the first having opened in 2009. Hilton promises further expansion in the future.
Gatwick has signed a contract with Shiva Hotels limited to operate the three-star hotel.
In other news from the airport, Gatwick reported a 2.6% fall in the number of passengers travelling through the airport in September 2010, compared to 2009.
Long-haul traffic, however, rose by 7.1% over the same period.
