Christine Ourmières, thought to be the first female CEO of an Irish airline, is set to take over at Cityjet.
The Dublin-based airline, a subsidiary of Air France-KLM, will see Ourmières take on the role from October 1.
Ourmières has been working in the airline industry for more than 20 years.
She began her career with Air France in 1998, and most recently has been general manager and VP for Air France and KLM in the US.
Before moving to the US she was general manager of Air France and KLM in the UK and Ireland.
Pat Byrne, CityJet's Chairman and acting CEO said: "I look forward to handing over the CEO role, which I have been acting in for the last month, upon her arrival in Dublin .
"This is, I believe, the first time a female has been appointed to lead an Irish airline.''
