Manchester airport passenger numbers rose again last month, with year-on-year growth up 6.7 per cent.
The airport has announced that an extra 30,000 passengers used the airport during April compared to the same period in 2014.
The number of people flying to and from Manchester Airport increased to 1.7 million, with a rolling annual total of 22.3 million.
Manchester airport said a busy Easter period and increase in long-haul routes were “significant drivers” of the growth.
April saw Virgin Atlantic take over Delta’s Atlanta service and adding a larger aircraft to the popular U.S route.
Manchester airport managing director Ken O’Toole, said: “Manchester airport’s growth continues and we are already looking ahead to a busy summer schedule.
“Over the next few months, we look forward to adding further new routes and frequencies to our offering to ensure that the 22 million people who live within a two hour drive of the airport have a greater choice than ever before.
“With two full length runways, Manchester Airport is, and will continue to have, the available capacity and demand to meet the needs of our airlines and passengers.”
