Luton airport has reported record passenger numbers for January compared to the same period last year.
The airport's monthly traffic figures showed an 11.3 per cent rise for last month from the same period in 2014.
It comes after 10.5 million passengers used Luton airport in 2014 – an 8.3 per cent increase from the previous year and the highest in its 76 year history.
Luton said the increase is down to its "rapidly expanding route network", which saw 15 destinations added in 2014 and 11 new routes already confirmed for 2015.
One of those new routes is the all-business class service to New York with La Compagnie which will start flying on April 24.
Luton said growing demand for the airport will be met by a £100 million investment programme, which starts this spring and aims to increase annual capacity from 12 million to 18 million passengers by 2026.
The improvements include a major redesign of the terminal, improvements to transport links including better access to the M1 and a new executive lounge.
Luton airport CEO Nick Barton, said: “2015 will be a pivotal year for us as we embark on transforming the airport for our passengers, staff and airline partners.
"Increasing numbers of passengers are choosing Luton for its easy access from London and the surrounding regions and the great value air services on offer."
He added: "The airport has also experienced increased customer satisfaction ratings demonstrating the hard work by the dedicated airport teams and the improvements works carried out across the airport site."
