Lufthansa pilots are to strike for the second time this year on Wednesday, affecting the carrier’s short and long-haul services.
The Vereinigung Cockpit union said the action was called due to a long-running dispute over its early retirement benefits.
Lufthansa plans to phase out its early retirement scheme that currently sees pilots retire at 55 and retain around 60% of their pay until they reach the state pension age.
The German airline said it had made concessions in recent talks, including giving the pilots a 5 per cent pay rise.
Workers are also in a dispute over Lufthansa's plan to expand its low-cost operations.
The union said the walkout will last 24 hours and affect flights throughout Germany. Services at the carrier’s budget airlines Germanwings and Eurowings will not be hit by the action.
Earlier this month the airline said it lost €232 million last year due to 10 strikes.
