UK regional airline Loganair has secured a multi-year deal with energy giant BP to provide flights between Aberdeen and Sumburgh to support the latter’s North Sea operations.
The agreement will see Glasgow-based Loganair deploy its fleet of ATR-42 aircraft to deliver dedicated air links to the Shetland Islands for BP’s offshore workers.
The carrier said the new contract “underlines its long-term commitment to both island connectivity and to the crucial oil and gas industry”.
Loganair CEO Luke Farajallah added: “We are extremely proud to be extending our products and services to this key customer. We understand very well the relevance and importance of the energy sector in Scotland. These are essential flights, and we will deliver them with the safety, reliability and punctuality Loganair customers have become used to experiencing across the UK and Europe.”
The announcement follows the carrier’s recent network expansion, including the addition of new routes from the Channel island of Jersey and a new regional base at Southampton Airport.
