KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has announced it will start flying to Miami from next year, after a six-year break.
When it starts, on March 27 2011, Miami will be the 20th destination to be served by KLM from Amsterdam.
The route will be operated using a 285-seat MD-11 aircraft, configured into three classes (business, premium economy and economy).
KLM’s direct service to Miami was suspended in September 2004.
The reinstatement of the Amsterdam-Miami route marks another destination in Air France KLM’s transatlantic joint venture with Delta and Alitalia.
