Indian carrier Jet Airways flew 2 million passengers last month, the highest number ever for any airline of Indian origin.
Jet Airways flew 1.55 million passengers on its domestic and international network, while low cost subsidiary Jet Lite flew 0.47 million
Lydia Nazareth, Jet Airways’ general manager for the UK and Ireland, said she expected to see sustained growth for the rest of 2011.
“Jet Airways’ international business continues to be robust with healthy seat factors,” she said.
“Our European hubs have gone from strength to strength with the introduction of a daily non-stop service from Delhi to Milan last year, the only daily direct flight on the India-Italy route.”
Some analysts expect India to be the fastest growing civil aviation market in the world by 2020, on the back of growth in the Indian economy and a rising middle class.
