Eruptions at two volcanoes in Indonesia have forced the closure of five airports in the country.
The international airport serving Indonesia’s second largest city Surabaya and four other airports have closed after ash from Mount Raung on the island of Java made it too dangerous for aircraft to operate.
Yesterday, Government officials ordered the closure of airports serving Surabaya and Malang in East Java - near Raung - and Ternate in North Maluku, near Gamalama.
Two other airports have remained closed since last week - Banyuwangi and Jember near Raung.
Indonesia’s national carrier Garuda has said passengers can cancel flights free of charge with a full refund or rebook flights for a future date.
