Global airline traffic for November showed the strongest demand growth in nine months, according to data from aviation body IATA.
European carriers saw demand increase by 8.3 per cent in November last year, while traffic grew at a yearly rate of 12 per cent.
However, IATA has warned “uncertainty lies ahead” with the threat of terrorism, economic instability, rising oil prices and “increasing protectionist rhetoric”.
“The industry has reshaped itself and strengthened its resilience to shocks. We should see another solid year of collective profitability for the airlines in 2017. But we must be vigilant,” said IATA director general Alexandre de Juniac.
