Passengers heading to Greece have been warned of severe disruption today (April 7) due to country-wide air traffic controller strikes.
The 24-hour strike by Greece civil aviation associations and Greek air traffic controllers means there will be no domestic or international out of the country.
The action called by unions is against plans to overhaul the country’s pension system and is hitting other sectors including state schools and hospitals.
Ryanair has had to cancel 90 flights today following on from six on Wednesday. Easyjet has also cancelled flights as a result of the strikes.
In a statement British Airways said it is doing all it can to reduce disruption but warned passengers face “severe disruption’.
“As a result of the industrial action we have been forced to reduce our flight schedules.
“We will be using larger aircraft throughout Friday when the airspace has fully reopened to help affected customers and are doing all we can to reduce any disruption.”
All passengers affected have been advised to contact their airline which should offer rescheduled flights or refunds.
