Budget Saudi airline Flynas has suspended all long-haul flights, including all services to London Gatwick.
The airline confirmed all passengers that have booked flights on the long-haul routes will be fully refunded or alternative flight arrangements on other airlines will be made.
Flynas cited poor load factors as the reason for axing the services and said passenger numbers “have not met the company’s commercial expectations”.
The airline will axe Gatwick to Jeddah and Riyadh services from tomorrow (October 25), just seven months after the route was launched. It follows the cancellation of the Manchester-Jeddah service in August – that route only lasted four months.
As well as Gatwick services the airline is also cutting flights to Jakarta and its Pakistan destinations.
“Flynas is concentrating on enhancing its performance by focusing strongly on its successful domestic and regional services,” the airline said in a statement.
“We are constantly reviewing our route network to enhance operational efficiency and ensure that we continue to deliver value for money and an exceptional guest experience,” the airline added.
Flynas currently operates 950 weekly flights from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to 25 domestic and regional destinations.
