Flybe has warned of “uncertain” trading conditions as it reports a robust end to 2016.
Despite challenging economic factors such as Brexit and last year’s terror attacks, the regional airline reported promising passenger revenue growth of 13.5 per cent for the third quarter ending December 31.
Passenger numbers for the period rose nearly 10 per cent to 2.1 million.
However, Flybe warned that “uncertain customer confidence and poor weather have contributed to a slow start to this quarter”.
Newly-appointed CEO Christine Ourmieres-Widener, said: “I have only just started work as CEO at Flybe. However, everything I have seen so far confirms my excitement at the opportunity we have to become the best regional airline in Europe.
“There is much to be done, but we have the firm foundations needed to develop the business. My first priority is to look to rebuild passenger unit revenue and to challenge all our costs. This will be assisted by Flybe becoming an even more customer-focussed business as we achieve greater control over our fleet size.”
Flybe will boost regional connectivity in March when it launches its Scotland-Heathrow flights. It will offer up to 18 services a day between London and Edinburgh and 10 between London and Aberdeen.
