Flybe has returned to profit with “significant” revenue growth and a jump in passenger numbers helping the airline’s ‘turnaround’ programme stay on course.
The regional carrier’s revenues were up 10 per cent to £339.6 million for the six months to September 30, while it turned last year’s £3.3 million into a £22.9 million profit.
Passenger numbers jumped 10.2 per cent to 4.5 million compared to the same period last year.
Flybe CEO Saad Hammad said: "Our turnaround is on course with a very encouraging performance in the first half.
“We have returned to profit by delivering significant revenue growth through capacity investment and improved commercial execution, while reducing unit cost.”
It follows yesterday’s announcement that Flybe will introduce 17 routes for the summer 2016 season including eight from its new base at Doncaster and Sheffield.
