British Airways will swap its Boeing 777 serving the Heathrow-Las Vegas route for a 747 jumbo next summer. The move will increase capacity and introduce first class on the route.
The carrier says it will place its Boeing 747 aircraft onto its “popular Las Vegas route” from June 1, 2011, increasing capacity by 18 per cent. There will be a total of 124 extra seats available on each round trip, with each flight featuring 14 First seats.
Commenting on the move Richard Tams, British Airways head of marketing and sales, said: “Our direct service from London Heathrow to Las Vegas has been one of our most successful launches in recent years.
“It is one of the star performing routes on the BA network and such a winner with our customers that we are increasing capacity by 18 per cent from next summer and offering that extra touch of luxury."
Virgin Atlantic currently serves Las Vegas from London Gatwick, and the carrier announced earlier this year that it is to launch flights between Manchester and Las Vegas in April next year.
