Helsinki-based Finnair is the latest airline to start its own Twitter page.
The airline, which already has a facebook page and online blog, said it will be tweeting about the latest news, promotions and deals.
Finnair also said that Twitter would provide a useful tool during "times of urgency", such as the recent ash cloud crisis, when the airline used Facebook to communicate with customers.
The Finnish carrier said posts at www.facebook.com/Finnair were viewed more than 50,000 times during the crisis.
