Fastjet, the troubled African carrier, has named Nico Bezuidenhout as its new chief executive officer.
He joins from rival carrier Mango Airlines and will a position that has been vacant for three months after previous CEO resigned due to shareholder pressure.
"I am very pleased to be joining Fastjet at this stage in its development," said Bezuidenhout.
"Although market conditions are currently challenging, I am confident that we can build on the airline's existing operational base to strengthen and develop the business and deliver on its considerable potential,” he added.
Last year, Fastjet posted a loss of £25 million which it blamed on political turmoil across Africa and currency devaluations in Tanzania.
It has warned losses could continue for the rest of 2016.
