European aviation giants Lufthansa and Air France-KLM are adding new connections to Asia and Africa as well as increasing frequencies on existing routes.
German carrier Lufthansa Airlines will commence a new direct service from Frankfurt to Kuala Lumpur on 25 October. Flights on the new route will operate five times weekly with Boeing 787-9 aircraft, which feature the airline’s new Allegris cabin.
Swiss International Air Lines, part of the Lufthansa Group, will also begin flights from Zurich to Bengaluru, India, in October. Services will operate five times weekly as part of the carrier’s winter 2026/27 schedule.
Brussels Airlines, also under Lufthansa, will launch a new route between Brussels and Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, on 3 June. Originally planned as a summer service, this route will extend into winter “due to strong demand”. Flights will operate weekly between 28 October and 16 December before increasing to twice weekly from 19 December to 21 February.
Air France, meanwhile, has been deploying larger aircraft on its routes to Bangkok, Singapore, Delhi, Mumbai, Shanghai, Tokyo and Osaka since early March.
The airline from June will also add extra flights on routes from Paris Charles de Gaulle to Bangkok, Singapore, Delhi, Bangalore, Manila, Tokyo, Osaka and Nairobi.
Additionally, KLM will increase flight frequencies from Amsterdam to both Bangkok (from 29 May) and Nairobi (from 19 June) to meet “rising demand”.
