Etihad has said it will codeshare with Asiana Airlines on flights between the United Arab Emirates and South Korea.
The announcement comes as the Abu Dhabi-based airline prepares to start flights to Seoul’s Incheon airport on December 10.
Flights operated by the two airlines between Incheon and Abu Dhabi will have both an EY (Etihad) and OZ (Asiana) code.
The airlines will also offer reciprocal benefits to members of their frequent flyer programmes on the codeshared routes.
In a statement, the airlines said the codeshare agreement “will expand in time” across Europe, middle east, Africa and Korea.
James Hogan, Etihad Airways’ CEO, said: “South Korea is a very important market for the United Arab Emirates, and we are confident that this relationship will increase the flow of traffic between the two countries.”
