Etihad Airways has signed a codeshare deal with Aerolineas Argentinas to strengthen its ties in South America.
The agreement will come into effect on February 1 and will allow Etihad customers greater access to Latin America from Aerolineas Argentinas’ hub at Buenos Aires.
Etihad will place its EY code on 20 routes including Aerolineas Argentinas’ domestic services and regional flights to destinations in Uruguay, Chile and Paraguay.
James Hogan, CEO of Etihad, called the deal a “significant development” for both airlines.
“We are now able to enhance our business and leisure travel offering between the UAE, Argentina and onwards to the strategically important South American market,” he added.
Etihad began its first services to South America in June 2013 when it launched a route between Abu Dhabi and Sao Paulo in Brazil.
