Easyjet is to launch a direct service between Bristol and Gibraltar airport.
The year-round service will start on April 19 and operate up to three times a week, with flights on sale from Thursday (November 6).
Easyjet announced the news at the World Travel Market exhibition in London yesterday, with the new route bringing the total number of destinations served by Easyjet from Bristol airport to 47.
Shaun Browne, Bristol Airport’s aviation director, said: “Bristol Airport is delighted to play its part in extending the air links between the UK and Gibraltar.
“The city of Plymouth in the south west has a strong connection to Gibraltar through its rich naval and marine industry history, and more recently the financial services sector plays an important role in both our economies. This new flight will provide easy access and improve connections for both business and leisure passengers,” he added.
Last week, Easyjet announced it was strengthening its business travel offering with four new business destinations and additional frequencies on some of the most popular routes from Amsterdam.
The airline, which is opening a new base in Amsterdam in spring 2015, will launch routes to Hamburg, Venice, Toulouse, Nice, as well as to the cities of Olbia and Dubrovnik.
