Easyjet has reported a better than expected quarterly results, despite strike action hitting revenues.
The no-frills airline said revenue per seat fell 5.4 per cent to £59.08 per seat, although this was better than predictions in May.
Total revenue fell 1 per cent to £1.23m in the quarter but the number of passengers carried increased by 6.2 per cent to 19.1 million.
Easyjet said “difficult operational environments” due to French air traffic control strikes and the fire at Rome Fiumicino airport caused 1,364 cancelled flights.
Easyjet CEO Carolyn McCall said: “Our Q3 performance shows that Easyjet's strategy continues to deliver, in particular with good performance in the UK and beach routes across Europe.”
She added that Easyjet expects to grow profit before tax from £581 million to between £620 and £660 million for the year ending September 2015.
